![[audio]](/images/mediatype_audio.gif) | Sanguinato Dal Naso - ken restivo Me screwing around in GarageBand (which sucks, but that's a different story). This is basically "Hello, World!"-- some noodling followed by a modern rehashing of an old funk groove I wrote in 1984. The noodling becomes listenable about 3:30 in, and the 1984-era groove starts up around 9 minutes in. I'm pleased that the technology has finally caught up to what I was trying to accomplish musically 20 years ago... Keywords: hugh magma; funk; fusion Downloads: 136 |
![[audio]](/images/mediatype_audio.gif) | Can Sandwich - ken restivo More avante-garde piano stuff. Trust me, the FUNK, skyscapes, fusion, and such is coming. I'm still getting familiar with the new tools. These little peices are mostly tests of my audio setup, and I'm posting the more musical segments of it. ![[audio]](/images/mediatype_audio.gif) | Carnival Milk - ken restivo Another shiny happy groove to go with a warm, sunny, spring-like day. Just discoverd WhySynth for DSSI, which rules, and its great analog-style pads featured here, which apparently are derived from amSynth patches. So much amazing software, it’s… well it’s a Cambrian Explosion, is what it is. The array of sounds you hear in just this short peice would have cost me tens of thousands of dollars 20 years ago... ![[audio]](/images/mediatype_audio.gif) | The Atmospheric CD (1988-1998) - ken restivo A CD that I put together in 1998, out of material recorded from 1988 to 1998. I posted some of these tracks to mp3.com when it first launched in late 1998, and the first track ("Piano Mello") ended up as #3 on the jazz charts, somehow. All instruments by ken restivo, except guitar and vocals on "Dur!" by Bob Mokricki. Keywords: jazz, new age, mellow Downloads: 215 Average rating: (1 review) |
![[audio]](/images/mediatype_audio.gif) | XRuns - ken restivo Joy joy. So now I have eliminated MacOSX from my life (mostly) and am using my Mac Mini running Linux as a musical instrument, as well as a recording studio, and a general purpose hacking platform. The planets are aligning. Goodbye GarageBand (and good riddance), hello Rosegarden/Ardour/Jack-Rack/fluidsynth/Audacity/etc.. This chromatic peice is a test of the recording toolchain, using a Steinway Piano soundfont for fluidsynth. Keywords: piano; chromatic; modern Downloads: 105 |

![[audio]](/images/mediatype_audio.gif) | Maybe Later - ken restivo A somewhat wry commentary on real-time performance. "Nah, maybe later..." This one also features lots of samples. I have been craving more skyscape textures in these things, and was going to create a bunch of swooshy, white-noisey synth patches to go over the top of this. But I also have been craving more breath in them too, more natural sounds amidst all this digitally-tweezed electronica. So, why not combine the two, and use real live sounds from nature as texture? I love nature, and spent a w... Keywords: funky; groove; birds; Rhodes Downloads: 41 |
![[audio]](/images/mediatype_audio.gif) | ken restivo original music, Internet Archive storage - ken restivo Roughly 2 1/2 years' worth of original music, from December 2006 to September 2008. This music was created by me, on Linux softsynths and recorded and produced using Linux Audio tools. I uploaded all of these at once to the Archive because I couldn't afford the hosting anymore on my own site. I strongly recommend listening to the Ogg Vorbis versions. The MP3 versions sound like crap. Keywords: music,linux,funk,nu-jazz,fusion Downloads: 2,591 |
